Border Crossing

If you hike the entire High Scardus Trail, then you will cross the border between the states of Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia a total of 8 times during the tour - a truly international long-distance hiking trail! At none of these border crossings there is an official border crossing - you are high up in the mountains in lonely nature on the way and always hike over so-called "green borders"! For this reason you need a "Border Crossing Permit", in which all participants and the exact itinerary (to the day) are listed.

This permit must be submitted and approved in advance. It is relevant for controls and especially if you leave at the end of the trek at an official border crossing from a different country than you officially entered (missing stamp in the passport).
